Hey You! A Bag Giveaway

So have you checked out my website?  I know, it looks exactly the same, right?  That's ok, because we will be hard at work changing it up shortly, but I just realized that my "win a bag by Eleni drawing" was scheduled for August (the website anniversary) and I am probably not going to want to be sewing during labor, soooooo lets do it earlier!  Make sure you are on my email list, you can sign up here and on Friday the 13th - spooky!  I will use that random number generator thingy to figure out who wins.  Here is something to get ya started!

Shameless self promotion

My two new friends Kristen and Sandee started this cool new business called Perfecting Expecting, which is a really cool concept and one that I wish was around when I was preggers with my first.  Anyway, it's like a concierge for you during pregnancy, a pregnancy planner, someone to help you wind (and waddle) through all the craziness that is pregnancy and everything that goes along with it.

So these two gals, besides being entrepreneurs and go getters, are also really nice.  So nice that they decided to do a little feature on their blog of little ole me and my baby bags!  Here is the link!  Check it out, and if you are expecting in the Boston area, you should check them out.

Oh the glamorous life...

One of my lovely neighbors hosted a purse party last week - it was a success, hence the lack of posts, this girl has been busy, busy.  Which is a good thing, but with limited time on my hands, sometimes I feel like maybe I don't want to spend all of my evenings sewing, and so my procrastination routine begins.  Little bits o'progress amongst a myriad of other things:

Sewingdesk

a few bags, a glass of wine, a catalog from Rosie Hippo, and that red and white book back there is book by Mr. Rogers, whom I absolutely adore and have such fond memories of watching as a child.  Coincidentally, we share the same birthday!  When I get bored sitting at my sewing table I take a jaunt over to my cutting table:

where there is yet another bag in progress, sigh....Totally unrelated, but our girl Reece, is A-OK!  15% chance that the tumor wasn't cancerous and it wasn't.  She dodged a major bullet and now we are feeding her doggie doughnuts

Ourgirl

now back to work...isn't the world series on or something?

And they're off...

Weddingbags A bunch of funky black and white bags for a bride to be in Canada.  These guys kept me pretty busy all week, and it was a lot of fun to make them, but now they are going to their new home, into the hands of some very lucky girls (if I do say so myself!)  The one at the tippity top, for the bride...perhaps her "something blue"?  She promised pics of the gals and their bags and I can't wait, but for now they are wrapped up tight and ready to cross borders.  Have a great weekend everybody, stay safe! xoxoxo

$1

The total amount made at yesterday's event.

I could be sour and I am a bit bummed since it was the first one since last year, I could also be sour that not everyone there sold handmade goods, or that there were three other pocketbook vendors there or that one woman cracked my nuts over my belts or that I probably spent $800 in gas getting there, or that my son decided to have a nervous breakdown that had my husband banging his head against his crib, but I won't be bitter for one second, not even a nano-second because the beauty of being at the bottom is that you have nowhere to go but UP!

So the 3 best parts of yesterday:

1.  I made two new friends from CT.  One a silversmith and the other a sewer/knitter/crafter, etc.  It was nice to talk to women who actually make things and one of the women took a class at Denyse Schmidt's studio, which I have been contemplating and from what I hear it is money well spent, so sign me up!

2.  Judy George, the founder of Domain Home Furnishings was a speaker.  Motivational, inspiring, funny, and from Everett, MA!  She's written a book, but I can't find a link to it on amazon, but I will!

3.  There was a speaker from Project Hope a wonderful, worthwhile cause that you should look into if you are in the Boston area

It's funny how things work, I went to sell, sold almost nothing, but made some new friends and heard some inspirational speakers, sometimes we are put in places not for the reasons we originally thought but something even better!

OK, remember that mess I made yesterday, time to clean up and maybe squeeze in a little yard work.

I leave you with a pretty pic of a Dahlia in my window box.  Happy Friday Peeps.

It's Showtime...

And I am doing my favorite last minute Larry dance around my sweatshop.  I never feel prepared for a show, because it's not something you can predict.  The only sure bet is that I will seriously mess up my work space beyond belief in preparation.  I think that maybe the status of my sweatshop whilst preparing for a show is a reflection of my brain during these times, hence the frazzled, stressed out feeling of out of control-ness. Check it out:

a corner of my sewing desk

Desk

my fabric stash drawers, that I NEVER bother shutting because I will be back in them shortly.

Drawers

The ironing board that I use as a cutting table, because the cutting table IS FULL OF CRAP

see what I mean, A MESS

But in the midst of the chaos, just when I think my head is going to fall off because it's overwhelmed and overloaded, I glance down and get a look at this

Chris

You knew that was coming huh, look at him, poor thing, surrounded by fabric and strapped into the bouncy seat, all he wants to do is practice sitting up and play with his crinkly toys :(  Oh well, toughen up kid, life isn't always what we want.  (That was sarcasm in case you didn't pick up on it)

But seriously though, tonight is the first show that I have done since right before he was born, the last one being in November, then I had to hire (bribe) one of my friends to do one in December for me, it's amazing what you can get people to do for you when you put the words "free" and "bag" together in a sentence, throw in "in whatever style/fabric you want" and they'd pretty much promise you their first born child, it's amazing what gals will do for their bag fix!

OK, moving on back to the show  it is at the Temple Shir Tikva in Wayland and it's their annual sisterhood dinner, there should be some good speakers there and from what I hear a hot cocoa lady, which we will need tonight since it's acting more like October around here lately. I've added a few new things, like burp cloths and belts and a few dog collars and a NEW CLUTCH bag that I am calling the "jolly" clutch, because it just seemed so fitting, right Elaine?

Oh one last thing, I am going to be making a quilt soon, and at the rate I go maybe it will be done by the time I have a grandchild because I have never done this before so we shall see.

Hopefully, I'll remember to take a few pics today and will post tomorrow.
