So have you checked out my website? I know, it looks exactly the same, right? That's ok, because we will be hard at work changing it up shortly, but I just realized that my "win a bag by Eleni drawing" was scheduled for August (the website anniversary) and I am probably not going to want to be sewing during labor, soooooo lets do it earlier! Make sure you are on my email list, you can sign up here and on Friday the 13th - spooky! I will use that random number generator thingy to figure out who wins. Here is something to get ya started!
Ok peeps, I am off!
Today was a nice day finally! I was ready to kill someone or myself if I had to deal with rain and cold for one more day. I feel like I am always complaining about the weather! oh well. I am very excited because Wednesday I meet with the most fabulous photographer Tess to go over some ideas I have for my website. I can't freaking wait to get some new stuff together for it and give it a fresh, new look and feel. The site is tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiired, or maybe that's just me at 24 weeks pregnant, more than 1/2 way there peeps, I am freaking out!
At 23 weeks, it's hit me big time, the nesting bug. Only I seem to be nesting for the older one of the two. That's not to mean that I don't care as much about #2, but reality for me is that it's the squeaky wheel who gets the oil and right now that squeaky wheel has taken the shape of a 16 month old who is into EVERYTHING. So on my nesting quest I've found that I've become obsessed with his play area - how it is set up as well as what is in it. First, there are tons of ideas out there for how to set up your child's play area, just look in this book, or here to start. Because I am all into this like a psycho, I dedicated some time today to looking for some new things to add to his little area. After reading some of this book, I decided I wanted to get him a latching lock box type of thingy, and came across this, and I want it. But I also want some other things like this ice box and toy stove. In an effort to be economical, I toyed with the idea of making one, but that's just got disaster written all over it. I mean c'mon, drills & latches? Soooooo I am stuck.
My two new friends Kristen and Sandee started this cool new business called Perfecting Expecting, which is a really cool concept and one that I wish was around when I was preggers with my first. Anyway, it's like a concierge for you during pregnancy, a pregnancy planner, someone to help you wind (and waddle) through all the craziness that is pregnancy and everything that goes along with it.
So these two gals, besides being entrepreneurs and go getters, are also really nice. So nice that they decided to do a little feature on their blog of little ole me and my baby bags! Here is the link! Check it out, and if you are expecting in the Boston area, you should check them out.
Ok, so my friend Christine is slowly trying to kill me I mean, tagged me, and here are the rules:
1. link to who tagged you
2. put the rules on your blog
3. post six stupid and non relavant things about yourself
4. tag six peeps at random
5. let them know by leaving a comment
Ok, sooooo six random, unrelated, non relavant things about myeslf, here goes:
1. I will spend exorbanant amounts of dough on the latest and greatest skincare products only to rarely use them and have them take up lots of room. I fall asleep with makeup on all the time and continue to whine and moan about the status of my skin, go figure.
2. I'm OBSESSED with photoshop these days, really trying to hone my inner photographer skills. Here is the link to a new Flickr set where I am trying to expand my skills. Note that I did not say I was any good at it, but I am trying and I believe that my first grade teacher said that trying is all that really counts - thank GOD!
3. I hate my wardrobe, really I do, getting dressed everyday is a chore because I hate my clothes so much. I actually liked getting dressed up for work everyday and actually liked my wardrobe, shopping was so much fun and I thought I could pull together an outfit here and there. Nowadays, the only thing I am pulling together is my hair into a greasy ponytail and pulling dried up banana off of my shirt.
4. I want, no I need, a house on the beach.
5. I like really really really bad television, click here for a clip , or here , or here to see what I have been filling my brain with.
6. In my effort to be more organized, I am starting to list some fabric for sale on ebay. I am slowly learning about how to upload the pics and stuff so please bare with me, but it will all be below retail price, I want to get rid of this stuff!
ok I think that's it, here's who I tag back jess carrie amanda and mary. I am only tagging four because I can't think of anyone else of the top of my head and I need to go to the post office!
Many of you may know, many may not (but you will now) that it took me 10 - yes you read that right 10 - years to finish college. I'm a college connoisseur of sorts! Though I tried out numerous colleges (and Universities) one thing remained constant, I was always an English major, so that means two things: I've written a lot of BS in my lifetime and read a lot of BS in my lifetime (with this attitude you can probably start to understand why it took me 10 years to get that piece of paper). Anyway, out of all the things of read and written, I do have some favorites that I hold dear, one of my favorite poets, (who made his home close by in NH) is Robert Frost, so seeing that we got a nice bit of snow yesterday, I thought I'd share this with you....
Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
One day while I was mindlessly surfing, ahem, doing research for Eleni by surfing Flickr, I somehow came across a photostream by a gal named Tess and I immediately fell in love with her photos. Intrigued, I poked around her profile and found her website, low and behold much to my delight I found that she's LOCAL! I was ecstatic, I mean stuff like this doesn't happen to me, I look on Flickr, and read fun blogs and everyone is so far away, but yet I hemmed and hawed for a bit, (don't know why) toyed with the idea of family photos, but wasn't sure if I should do it. Then on a whim (or looking for a distraction from cleaning) I logged on, called her up and we made a date. The day after Thanksgiving she arrived at our humble abode with her camera, and well, I'll just let the photos speak for themselves...
I have over 100 photos from the shoot and am in love with each and every one equally. I can't say enough nice things about Tess or her wonderful gifts, thank you for making these so special!
PS-two posts in two days, aren't I miss fancy pants?
My babes turns 1 next month and we will be celebrating his birthday and what should be a national holiday on Thanksgiving weekend. We are doing it early so my brothers' girlfriend, who's also my favorite Brit, gets to witness the festivities before she crosses the pond to go home. Anyway, we've chosen a theme based upon a photo we had taken on that trip to the White Mountains.
We all know I like cowboys and am really sort of obsessed with it actually, so we are going at it full force. I'm ready for a house full of crazy kids, looking forward to running the vacuum 17 times to get ground-in cake out of my carpet, can't wait for the screams of "it's my turn", the whines and the general chaos that will ensue all for my baby's first birthday party. I'm thinking though that if things get too out of control, I've got the ginormous camera, and I'm not afraid to blackmail kids into behaving. I will point, shoot and post here if parents don't control their children. So bring it on I say, BRING IT ON!
